Professor Jianguo Tao of Harbin Institute of Technology Came to Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology for Academic Exchange

On August 22nd, 2016, at the invitation of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Integration Technology, Professor Jianguo Tao from Harbin Institute of Technology visited Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology Chinese Academy of Science and made a presentation on the topic of “System design and motion control of underwater welding robot applied in nuclear power plants”. Kai He, the director of CPE, held the lecture.

Professor Tao is the professor and Ph.D. supervisor of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics Manufacturing Engineering, School of Mechatronics, Harbin Institute of Technology. His research area covers mechatronics, robot architecture, special robot technology and aerospace space structure. He has published more than 60 papers and patented 16 national inventions. Besides, Professor Tao has undertaken several national research projects, and he was awarded one Second Class Prize for Scientific and Technology Process of China and three Provincial Second Class Prize for Scientific and Technology Process.

This presentation introduces the system design and motion control of underwater welding robot applied in nuclear power plants, which can work without affecting the operation of nuclear power plants, effectively improve the working condition and avoid serious loss in terms of lacking fuel and damaging spent fuel pool. Professor Tao introduced his research work from the following aspects: underwater welding system design, underwater motion system design, underwater motion system dynamic model build, dynamic control system and welding scrap recovery. All the staff of CPE listened to this presentation.
